Dealing with contacts is quite static compared to other topics. You almost have to
follow a few rules so that contact can be established and maintained. But here too
there are some forms of variation. There are many different ways of establishing
contact in our world. While I like to communicate with people in writing, others prefer
to be face to face with the person they are talking to or hear their voice on the phone.
The best way to find which exchange is best for you is to try it out.
In this day and age, you can easily find like-minded people who use the same methods
of exchange, you just have to keep your eyes open
Nevertheless, when you make contact with a person, it is important to respond to their
needs regarding communication. Sending a letter to someone without a permanent
address doesn’t make much sense.
But the type and frequency of contact can also be designed in certain ways as long as
both sides have no problem with it. Do I really have to call my girlfriend every day or
is there a different rhythm? Do I really always have to follow all the rules of
politeness towards my conversation partner, or can I sometimes be direct or flippant?
Can it also be a joke? All of this can be found out through conversation or
experimentation and doesn’t have to follow any rules.
Personally, I feel most comfortable when I can say what I mean directly and even
make false jokes, if it is okay for the other person. Respect for the other person must
always be considered.
For me, pen friendships are also quite suitable as I like written exchanges better than
verbal ones. The reason for this is that I can formulate what I want to say at a more
relaxed pace and rewrite every sentence until I send it off. On the other hand, I can
also reread information that my conversation partner has given me later in peace or
read it through until I can remember it or have it well understood.
