Here I found a trick for how I can best deal with myself. I just listen to what my body wants from me and what it needs. Of course, I have to make sure that I fulfil my obligations, such as arriving at work on time, neatly and keeping to appointments. But the time I have for myself belongs to my body. Interestingly, sometimes my body feels the need to do the dishes or tidy up the apartment. It works almost so reliably that I rarely have to force myself to do anything.
Despite this reliability of my body, I watch myself so as not to forget certain tasks or to fit upcoming things into my sometimes-quiet strict schedule.
For me, a self-determined life is what is good for me. You have to decide for yourself whether this is the case for you too. Some autistic people need a clearly structured everyday life or a counterpart who can help in everyday life. But here too it can be helpful to experiment and see the common ways of organizing everyday life only as a suggestion and not as a must.
